Print your own LEGO Technic-compatible parts

Eleven years ago, I released LEGO.scad, an OpenSCAD library for generating 3D-printable LEGO-compatible bricks. Today, I present to you Technic.scad, an OpenSCAD library for generating 3D-printable LEGO Technic-compatible parts.

Technic.scad can generate axles, pins, pin connectors, hubs, beams, bushings, elbows, gears, tires and wheels. All of the pieces are customizable, so you could generate nearly infinite variations:

Those images are the models generated in OpenSCAD, but here’s a real-world beam that I printed:

Ooh! Ahh!

Technic.scad’s capabilities are extensive. In fact, it can generate nearly all of the pieces required to build Technic set 30433, the Volvo Wheel Loader. This rendering of that nearly complete set was generated by Technic.scad:

You can almost tell what it’s supposed to be!

In keeping with the guidance from the LEGO Group when I first built LEGO.scad, I must emphasize that the models generated by Technic.scad are merely Technic-compatible, not genuine Technic parts.

If you want to generate Technic-compatible parts, download Technic.scad from GitHub.
