Feed Suggester for Feed Sidebar?

Would anyone besides me use this?

I was thinking it would be neat to add a recommendations component to Feed Sidebar. It would work like this:

  1. You’d opt in to share your list of feeds anonymously.
  2. Your list of feeds is sent to a central server.
  3. Other users do the same thing.
  4. Magic happens.
  5. The Feed Sidebar would occasionally recommend a new feed based on what other people like you are reading.

Would anyone besides me use this? I know that other Web-based feed readers have similar features, but those of us who control our own data are getting left out in the cold.

  1. I don’t think I would use what you propose. I like Feed Sidebar because it is well suited for someone like me who reads very few feeds.

I’m happy to see that you are still developing Feed Sidebar. I have been continuing to use it even though it is outdated for my browser: Shiretoko 3.5pre (a.k.a. Firefox 3.5pre). All I did was change the version number in some xml file. It still works just fine.

  2. I think I have to agree with Jon. The reason I use Feed Side bar is because it’s generally light weight and doesn’t offer a bunch of excessive features. Thanks for a great add-on.

  3. I would very much like this feature, and I think a large amount of users would. Develop it, add a check-box and see what users think. :)
