I hope that everyone here is smart enough to know that there is no way in hell you will ever find a legit plasma for $450… Please be aware before purchasing anything, I recommend doing stricktly local pickup since this is a Toronto site. If the TV is sitting somewhere at a fedex kinko in Maine (as a recent scammer used on me), you should post it on the Maine CL site…

You would think a real pro would get a little suspicious of all the questions about sending the money. This yahoo must be really desperate to make these stupid mistakes. He is probably running several of these and getting the emails mixed up. I am glad someone is tracking these schemes. It seems they are more prevalent every day. I guess the old saying stands ” If it seems to good to be true, IT’S CRAP!!!!Save your money people, if your that desperate to spend it, I will happily send you a WU location to send it to. This scam is so obvious that it is hard to believe anyone will fall for it. There are two things you need to know…If it is too good to be tru, it probably is. And on Craigslist, do local pickups ONLY. Every Nigerian is not a sam artist and it is really unfortunate that the name of that country is being dragged thrrough the mud by a few people.
Reading through all these comments one thing is very evident - greed. Why would you expect anyone in their right mind to sell you a good plasma TV worth thousands od dollars for less than $500? Also why would you believe any guy that tells you it is in a different city and you need to pay before you see it?
I buy and sell on Craigslist but I will buy those items I can pick up myself. And I won’t pay you unless I test the item to ensure it works properly. This is only common sense.
I sell on Craigslist but it’s either cash payment or Paypal, period. Recently a guy (or lady) wanted to scam me by saying he wants to pay me using Money Order from some website, I told him to go to hell…
That is how you do it - either you see the item you are paying for or no deal.
Not all Nigerians are scammers. I know. I am a Nigerian and I have never and I never will, scam anyone.

Actually, if you search online, these guys really ARE quite desperate. There are a few sites out there that chronicle antics such as getting these guys to send photos of them selves (Which are then sent to the FBI), and I remember reading one where the guy actually got one of the scammers to travel to Europe to meet him. He had pictures and all. I say scam the scammer, it’s more fun that way.

My name is ______________(fill in name of scammer a-hole here) and I am now in ___________ United Kingdom.... is the TNT scam - links are found in previous submission. Mostly used on Plasma TV's and I Macs.

The reason this is posted is because of a serial scam ring operating out of Miami and Nigeria. Every day or so an excellent HD TV is posted on this and other Craig's List sites at prices usually from 375 to 450 that has been 'saved from a scammer' - the bottom line is that you will be asked to Western Union $ 150 or more to rescue a Paul Richardson, a boy allegedly stranded in Nigeria. This in turn makes you eligible for other scam efforts such as spoofs asking you to update your PayPal account, Bank of America data etc.

The scam is transparent except for one thing that makes it seem legit: the scammers use a flaw in Fed Ex's system to generate a LEGITIMATE tracking number and packing slip for a 146 lb. item based upon "PACKAGE DATA BEING TRANSMITTED" - in other words it implies that a package is en route, but all that has happened is that Fed Ex has received notice of a package.

The scammers will also follow up with a bogus e mail purporting to be from Fed Ex - you will find the tracking number on the Fed Ex site, but will see no movement- when pressed the scammers will say it cannot be tracked for 'security reasons' .
